Get to Know Alisa Crider, Media Directory Chair

Alisa Crider, public relations & social media coordinator at Hampton Roads Transit, has worked in public relations for five years. “My first gig in the PR world was with the wonderful Susan Long-Molnar of Managing Communications Consulting,” says Alisa. “I worked part-time as a Public Relations Associate and wrote press releases, articles and blogs for various clients. She taught me quite a bit and prepared me well for my PR position at the Hampton Roads Chamber.”

Alisa says she joined PRSAHR to get a greater understanding of the PR field. “I want to learn the latest PR trends, techniques and technologies and meet like-minded professionals. All the benefits PRSA offers will help me advance in my career.”

If she didn’t work in public relations, Alisa says she would probably be a development director for a non-profit. “I spend a lot of time supporting local non-profits. Most recently, I have committed to raise money to help the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation realize its mission of controlling and curing cystic fibrosis (CF). I would love your support!"

Now, let’s really get to know Alisa:

    1. If you could only eat at one restaurant for the rest of your life, where would you go? What’s your favorite meal there? Steinhilber’s Restaurant in Thalia Acres in Virginia Beach. They have the best fantail fried shrimp, hands down, although I wouldn’t turn down anything on their menu.

    1. What’s your favorite book (or movie or song) of all time? Why? Airplane is simply the funniest movie of all time. It handles the broad range of parody, satire, and plain silliness expertly, and has some of the greatest one-liners and sight gags ever put in a movie. There's no real plot. Just laughs - and plenty of them. If you haven’t seen it, let me know. I may loan it to you.

    1. What’s one thing about you that others are surprised to discover? I grew up camping and love it to this day. In 2002, I went on a cross country camping trip with my parents and two brothers. We were away for a month and a half and visited more than 30 states. I hope to do another cross-country trip with my future family.

    1. What’s the last picture you took with your phone? The last picture I took with my phone was of a young girl’s remodeled bedroom. I volunteered with tHRive and Roc Solid Foundation this weekend to remodel a room for a 10 year old who was diagnosed with lymphoma. Watching her see the finished room for the first time was so rewarding! I’m so proud to work alongside other young professionals who want to make a positive impact in our community.

    1. Name five people you’d invite to your dream dinner party. My amazing mom, my grandma who I miss every day, Bruno Mars to sing, and Julianne and Derek Hough to kick off the dance party.

If you haven't took a test drive in our new online media directory. Check it out! It's free for PRSAHR members.
