    Want to know what it takes to create an award-winning press room? Tired of duct-taping pitches together in email? Need a tool that’s available 24/7 – and working when you’re not?

    Plan to be at this summer workshop to learn how to build and maintain a customized news resource the media will want to use. During this workshop associates from Ferguson and WTKR will walk you through how the Ferguson press room transformed into a PRSA Bronze Anvil award winner. You will learn how to build a dynamic online news site that’s created with the media in mind, easy to maintain and gathers data to measure media engagement.

    Christine Dwyer, Senior Public Relations Manager, Ferguson

    As the Senior Manager of Public Relations for Ferguson, Christine is responsible for the planning, implementation and measurement of external communications and media relations initiatives for Ferguson’s 1,400 locations which includes 270 showrooms. She has been in this position for six years. Previously, Christine was the marketing manager for a regional accounting firm and an account executive at a local advertising agency.

    In 2011, she won the Inside Business Top 40 under 40 award for her professional achievements and community involvement. In 2008, she was awarded the Rising Star award from the Hampton Roads chapter of the Public Relations Society of America for her leadership and contributions to the chapter. Christine is also a 2009 graduate of the Van Lefcoe Leadership Program. The program’s mission is to identify, educate and encourage future leaders within the City of Portsmouth, Va. She is currently a Board Member for the Portsmouth Museums Foundation. 

    A graduate of Old Dominion University, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications with an emphasis in public relations and a minor in marketing.

    Zsavonne Perryman, Public Relations Specialist, Ferguson

    As a Public Relations Specialist, Zsavonne works to tell the story of Ferguson’s showrooms -- Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery – and residential plumbing locations. She works with directors, managers and associates to write industry trend articles, develop strategic messaging and prepare for media interviews and public speaking opportunities. 

    With more than 10 years of experience in public relations, Zsavonne has coordinated and lead the strategic development of public relation campaigns for numerous local, regional and national brands. A graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, she has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications, a 2015 graduate of LEAD Peninsula and was an Ambassador for the Peninsula Chamber of Commerce from 2013-2015.

    Dan Cawley, Executive Producer, WTKR-TV News 3

    For almost three decades, Dan has been winding his way through the media landscape as an award-winning television producer, advertising creative director, and public relations consultant.  A graduate of the School of Communications at Penn State University, he started his career in the Quaker state working in TV on public affairs and polka shows. Now from his adopted home in the Old Dominion, Dan is currently an Executive Producer at WTKR News 3, the CBS Affiliate in Hampton Roads, where he is still focused on content-marketing as well as community and lifestyle programming.
