Mindy L. Hughes, APR, is a nationally accredited, award-winning public relations counselor based in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

For the past three years, Mindy has been a PRSA regional representative, working with the volunteer boards of 28 of PRSA’s 110 chapters. She also manages the four-member team of regional representatives. Mindy has been a long-time volunteer leader with PRSA, serving as chair of PRSA’s Mid-Atlantic District in 2012, president of the Hampton Roads Virginia chapter in 2010, member of the 2011 and 2013 National Nominating Committees, Assembly Delegate-at-Large in 2015 and assembly delegate for her chapter and district on several occasions. She joined PRSA in 1987 and earned APR designation in 1992. In 2012, the Hampton Roads Virginia chapter named her Practitioner of the Year.

Since 2001, Mindy has been successfully serving clients in non-profit organizations, higher education, health care, government and transportation. Prior to launching her consulting company, she worked in local government, tourism and health care public relations.

In her leisure time, Mindy enjoys photography and listening to classic rock and blues, especially when her guitarist husband of 35 years is playing it. She’s a devoted mom of two adult kids and one dog. She's an enthusiastic community volunteer, and also finds time to read spy thrillers and murder mysteries, and enjoy good food and fine beverages. Mindy eagerly counts the days until the next trip when she can leave the beach behind for a Virginia mountain retreat.
