Spotlight: Sid Bridge, APR

    We're excited about this new feature, showcasing the best our PRSA chapter has to offer - YOU! Each month, we will feature one of our members and the great work they are doing in the 757 and beyond. Here's our first feature.

    Years in the industry: 23

    Current employer: Harbor Group International, LLC

    What is the biggest communications challenge you've ever faced on the job, and how did your solve it?
    Our company closed the acquisition of a $1.85 billion portfolio of apartment communities all over the United States. Working with an external PR firm, as well as PR reps from the seller and the broker, we had to broker an exclusive with the Wall Street Journal and work to make sure competing interests didn't scoop the story. We crafted a PR strategy around the closing that satisfied the needs of all parties and got us the most coverage in key industry publications.

    What is the most important communications lesson you've ever learned?
    People want to know what's going on. They want to hear your story. Sharing information openly is key - and when you can't share such information, be honest about why you can't.

    What one piece of advice would you give new communicators?
    Listen to everyone. Get a seat at every executive meeting you can and absorb every piece of information your brain can hold.

    When you're not working, where might we find you?
    I've been a stand-up comic for nearly ten years and have performed regularly at the Virginia Beach Funny Bone, Cozzy's Comedy Club and even on the road.

    What's your favorite place you've ever traveled?
    Our company has an office in Israel, and I get to travel to Tel Aviv every year for one of our events. Israel is a beautiful, diverse country!

    What's the greatest benefit you've gotten from being a PRSA member?
    Pursuing and achieving accreditation, then becoming a mentor to others who want to become accredited has truly enhanced my career.

    What are you reading? Listening to? Watching?
    I'm a car enthusiast, so I spend a lot of time reading articles on Jalopnik. I also enjoy the people I'm connected with on my comedy Twitter account. I know you might be looking for educational stuff here, but I like to keep my creative senses sharp.

    How can we find you on social media?
    @SidBridgeComedy on Instagram and Twitter
