PRSAHR Announces Individual Pinnacle Award Winners

    The Public Relations Society of America’s Hampton Roads Chapter will honor three local public relations professionals at its Annual Pinnacle Awards luncheon on Nov. 14.

    Megan Goldwasser of Norfolk, communications specialist at Norfolk Collegiate, will receive the Rising Star award. She joined PRSA in 2016 and has served on her chapter’s Professional Development Committee for two years. She previously worked as a writer and communications specialist in Atlanta.
    Susan T. Mayo of Virginia Beach, president of Susan T. Mayo Consulting, will receive the Member of the Year award.  Since 1986 she has served in many chapter roles, including 2018 sponsorship chair. Mayo dedicated more than 30 years of her career to Farm Fresh Supermarkets and has her own public relations agency.
    Mary Prier of Norfolk, APR, marketing manager for the City of Virginia Beach Department of Parks & Recreation, will receive the P. Lee Starkey Public Relations Professional of the Year award. Since 1991 she has had many roles in her PRSA chapter, serving as president in 2013. She has worked at Chesapeake General Hospital and the Tidewater Builder’s Association and was a reporter for the American Forces Korea Network as an Army specialist.


    The Pinnacle Awards luncheon will take place from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club. Former WVEC reporter Joe Flanagan will serve as emcee. Tickets may be purchased here.
