    Meet Board Member Lynette James

Lynette James is currently the marketing coordinator for Portsmouth Museums’ (City of Portsmouth), a post in which she has served for eight years. Prior to that, Lynette had a long-term stint promoting Portsmouth’s attractions with the former tourism department and has spent the majority of her career working in a marketing capacity throughout the City of Portsmouth. Her typical day varies depending on what comes up, but includes monitoring and updating museums’ social media and websites; editing, proofing ads, newsletters, press releases, etc.; and attending meetings, and arranging media interviews. The majority of Lynette's time is spent cultivating and maintaining partnerships and promoting all of the Museums’ events and activities. She likes the variety of what her job entails and working with diverse audiences. Lynette has worked in public relations for more than 25 years and holds a BA degree in English and Communications from Denison University in Granville, OH. After graduating from college she worked in radio and TV and then started working at the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, Norfolk/Portsmouth in marketing.
