What a great Professional Development Conference!  Those who attended know what an outstanding program it was; those who missed it, ... well there's always next year.

    About 75 PR pros signed up for the PDC this year -- one of the highest turnouts in recent years -- no doubt because of the excellent lineup of speakers and topics.  Here's a short list of "thanks" on behalf of the Hampton Roads chapter and those who attended.

    • Thanks to our Keynote Speaker: Heidi Cohen, President and founder of Riverside Marketing Strategies.  Thanks for an enlightening and helpful presentation on Content Marketing -- plus a valuable road map on how to accomplish it.
    • Thanks also to the speakers who presented the break-out sessions Chris Leone, WebStrategies, Inc. and Rosalynne Whitaker-Heck, APR, Hampton University; also Nicole McGee, Va. Beach Public Library and the panel discussion moderated by Matt Paddock, Dominion Enterprises; Erica Campbell, Dominion Homes Media; Jay C. Ford, LA to Sen. Ralph Northam; Jennifer Sanford, Dominion Dealer Solutions.   Oh, and let's not forget Chris Robbins for starting the day with some yoga techniques and David Hollingsworth for providing a valuable portfolio photography service to attendees.
    • Of course, we appreciate our sponsors for helping to underwrite the day's events: Gold sponsor -- Deborah A. Myers and her team from CRT/tanaka; Silver sponsors Norfolk Southern, City of Virginia Beach CVB, Vocus/PRWeb, and Titan America; and Bronze sponsor Hampton Roads Transit (HRT).
    • And last but certainly not least, a tip-'o-the-hat to our hard-working PDC committee
      • Co-chaired by Sonja Barisic and Christine Brantley
      • Ably assisted by Courtney Anderson, APR; Sean Brickell, APR, Fellow PRSA; Robert Casper; Thurraya Kent, APR; and Kate McClain.
      • Thanks also to Harry Kenyon, APR and Carol Merica for helping with the online registration process;
      • Ansley Sudderth, PRSAHR's social media chair for online support
      • AND to everyone else who helped make Oct. 10 PDC such a rousing success.

    Our chapter is justified to offer our most profound appreciation for the hard work and dedication to produce such a wonderful event.
