Alumni Panel Coming to ODU’s PRSSA on April 14, 2021

    By Brittney Crosby

Old Dominion University’s chapter of PRSSA will host a 2021 Alumni Panel on April 14. This virtual event is intended to allow students with an interest in the communication field the opportunity to learn from ODU’s alums that have successfully navigated into the job market after graduation – particularly in the challenging current market turned upside down by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Starting at 7 p.m., alums will have the floor at the event, as they share their insight, expertise, advice and answer questions on their careers in the industry. Students will learn what it’s like to   work in public relations and related fields after college while gaining valuable tools and knowledge needed to start them on the right path.

As this will be ODU PRSSA’s second Alumni Panel over Zoom, the organization is thrilled to offer alumni from all over the U.S. a chance to participate in discussions that will help shape future careers. December’s Alumni Panel left students feeling inspired by the wisdom of the panel following the event.

“I enjoyed the alumni panel so much last year and received a lot out of helpful information into what my career could look like in the future. I can’t wait to see who is on the panel next year and absorb more of their advice for entering the field going forward,” said Brittney Crosby, ODU PRSSA member since Fall 2019.

Although this event is a special chance for students to get an idea of what they will be facing in the upcoming years, it is just as rewarding of an experience for the members of the alumni panel. The panel will get the chance to share their stories, challenges and offer any advice they wish they knew coming into the industry.

If any members of PRSA Hampton Roads are alumni of Old Dominion University and interested in being panelists, they can contact ODU PRSSA faculty adviser Brendan O’Hallarn. A Zoom link for the event will be shared in early April.
