PRSAHR: 30 years of value

As we celebrate our chapter’s 30-year anniversary, it’s overwhelming to think about the changes that occurred in our profession during this time period.

Though most of our “tools of the trade” have changed with technology, the core values and ethics of the profession have been steadfast. So, too, has been the value of being part of the organization that advances the profession.

Here is where professionals representing public agencies, utilities, corporate entities, non-profits, agencies and independent practitioners can learn and grow together. PRSA is the avenue for keeping up with what’s happening in the local public relations community as well as with the trends shaping the profession.

We owe a debt of gratitude to those who have nurtured the chapter over the years, as well as to the talented young professionals who are coming forward and taking on leadership roles in our organization.

We will need their commitment as we enter our next 30 years as a chapter and adapt to the changes that are certain to coming our way.

Fresh faces and fresh ideas are always welcome. See you at PRSA!

May Meeting Observations:  Recently, word came that the Oceana Air Show in Virginia Beach scheduled for September has been cancelled due to the "S"-word.  So what's the impact of "Sequestration" on your job?  Are you expecting a direct hit or an indirect ripple in your industry from the Federal budget impasse?  The Role of the Military in the Hampton Roads Economy will be the timely topic at our May 15 Membership meeting.  When you sign up for the meeting, feel free to take the optional short survey on the subject before you check out.   (Survey responses are not required and will be confidential for statistical use only.)
