    Meet: Sarah Buck

Sarah was introduced to public relations in high school during a career fair and thought it would be a great fit. In college she joined PRSSA and held two internships in PR. She loved it so much, she stuck with it. Sarah said she joined PRSA for the opportunity to stay current with industry trends, to learn from and network with her peers and to develop her leadership skills. Her advice for those who are new to public relations and to PRSA: “Never stop learning and developing.”

    Now for the important questions:

    1. If you didn't work in public relations, what would you be doing instead?
I would say I’d be a personal trainer so my JOB would be to work out and look amazing. However, if we’re being realistic, I’d say working with children – whether following in my mother’s footsteps as a teacher or in medicine somehow (on the warm and fuzzy side).
    2. What’s your favorite book, movie or song of all time? Why? Book – “The Giving Tree,” by Shel Silverstein; it was my go-to book as a child and I’ve already started to read it to my son. Perfect message of selflessness and unconditional love. Movie – “Beaches,” (not the remake). It’s a great movie to watch over and over with your best friend (which I’ve done many times). Song – Taking it way back here, but it’s, “You are My Sunshine.” My Gramps always sang this to me as a child and whenever I hear it, it makes me smile and brings back wonderful memories.
    3. What’s one thing about you that others are surprised to discover? I know this seems really superficial, but folks always assumed I was a cheerleader and in a sorority (based on my bubbly personality, perhaps)? However, was not a cheerleader – I played softball and I was not in a sorority. I was very much a homebody in college – if I wasn’t working I was hanging out in my dorm or apartment.
    4.  What's the last picture you took with your phone? Baby Winston laughing at the ceiling fan.
    5. Name 5 people you'd invite to your dream dinner party. Cal Ripken, Jr., Ronald Regan, Oprah, Pope Francis, Tim McGraw and my paternal grandfather (he passed before I was born).
